A brief history about Tavares…
Tavares, Florida was founded in 1880 by Alexander St. Clair Abrams, a newspaper and railroad man from a creole family in New Orleans. He gave it the surname of a Portuguese ancestor.
In 1883 a post office was established by the next year, a hotel, then stores, a sawmill and eight cottages were built.
In 1887 the city was named the seat of Lake County.
Dear Homeowner,
On behalf of the Lake Saunders Pointe Homeowners Association Board of Directors and residents, we welcome you to our community. Lake Saunders Pointe is known as a hidden gem in the heart of Tavares. It sits on a 336-acre private lake where waterskiing, boating, jet skiing, sailing, paddle boarding, fishing and canoeing seem to be a way of life. Swimming is also popular with residents. The sunsets are amazing and the rainbows, well the pot of gold is still up for grabs. The wildlife will amaze you and the fishing is outstanding due to the pristine water quality and lack of fishing pressure. Over the coming days, months and years we look forward to meeting you, whether it be walking your pet, at the pool for some vitamin D, or at a community event for fun and fellowship.
The operation of your homeowner’s association is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The board is responsible for overseeing the daily function and financial responsibilities of the association, rules and guidelines. Please take the time to read through the Declarations and Bylaws you received during your home purchase process.
Meetings are held each month and are noted at the entrance to Lake Saunders Pointe. All are always welcome and volunteers are especially appreciated.
Our community also has a Facebook page (Lake Saunders Pointe Community), which you are also welcome to join. There is also, the Nextdoor App which encompasses various surrounding neighborhoods with resources as well.

As a new homeowner, you may already have some ideas of how you would like to improve upon your property. Please keep in mind the association has an (ARC) Architectural Review Committee that helps in maintaining the quality and value of our neighborhood. Its function is to evaluate all exterior landscaping, repairs and remodeling (such as exterior painting, decks, docks, trees, bushes, roof replacement, etc.) in order to ensure compliance with all covenants, restrictions and guidelines. All projects and or modifications to the exterior of your home and property must be submitted to the ARC for approval before any work moves forward.
Again, welcome to Lake Saunders Pointe. We are confident you will find this neighborhood to be a great place to live and we encourage your participation in our HOA, activities and functions.
